ANTENATAL EDUCATION SESSIONS WILL RESTART ON OCTOBER 3rd 2022

Venue : | The Revive Café, Beacon Church, Runnymede, 95 Guildford Street, Chertsey. KT16 9AS. Parking available in the nearby Sainsbury’s carpark. |
We recommend you attend these sessions when you are around 34 weeks pregnant. Birth partners are welcome, you will need to book one place per couple.

Session One: Active Birth |
Our active labour and birth sessions will share information to equip you with the skills to feel in control of your labour. Topics discussed will include : physiology of labour and birth, early labour at home, what to pack, when to come into hospital & where to go, the different stages of labour, and ways of coping with labour including pain relief options. |
Session Two: Biomechanics and Infant Feeding |
This session will explore how biomechanics can aid preparation for labour and birth. We will share knowledge, understanding, practical tips, strategies and techniques that can increase the likelihood of a more comfortable and straightforward birth. Infant feeding will explore milk as medicine, antenatal colostrum harvesting, position and attachment. |
Session Three: Inductions, Assisted Births, and Caesareans |
During this session you will come to understand your care when situations may deviate from what you had planned, and how you can be empowered to make decisions regarding your care. A great opportunity to ask questions in a safe environment. Topics will include: induction of labour, assisted births, caesarean sections, decision making tools. |
Session Four: Postnatal Expectations |
Please attend these sessions during your pregnancy. Discover what to expect during the postnatal period for you and baby. This session will include safer sleeping, care of you and your partners mental health, pelvic floor exercises, and what to expect from your midwife and health visitor. |

Bump and Beyond: the 4th trimester: Free Antenatal Sessions
Children and Family Health Surrey has launched free antenatal sessions for parents-to-be to attend from 28 weeks pregnant onwards.
The 'Bump and Beyond: the 4th trimester' NHS sessions are funded by Surrey Heartlands and take place at venues across Surrey.
Parents-to-be are invited to a single 2-hr session for free which covers:
- the role of a health visitor
- relationships
- emotional wellbeing
- feeding
- safe sleep
- a crying baby
- and baby brain development.
