Chairman, Aileen McLeish said: "We have been waiting a long time for this. Around four years ago, we decided we needed better waiting facilities for patients waiting for their planned surgery. It's been a long time coming, but it's fantastic to have this fit for purpose and modern lounge that offers a much better experience for patients and staff."
The new Admissions Lounge at St Peter's Hospital was officially opened recently, with Chief Executive, Suzanne Rankin, cutting the ribbon.
A £1.2 million development, the new Lounge offers greater comfort for patients waiting for planned surgery and is situated in a purpose built unit much closer to our main Theatres. Now a completely independent area with the latest facilities, it comprises separate male and female waiting rooms and more fully equipped consulting rooms. This means patients can be assessed more quickly in a spacious environment which respects their privacy and dignity.
