On 5th May the Abbey Birth Centre, a midwife-led centre that offers a home-from-home environment for local women seeking a natural and positive birth experience, celebrated a year since its doors opened in 2014. Chairman Aileen McLeish said: "I can't believe it's been a year already since we first opened. The feedback about the Abbey Birth Centre has been amazing. This is the place to give birth in Surrey."

Associate Director of Midwifery, Jane Urben added: "There was a double celebration as the 505th baby was born at 5am on the 5th day of the 5th month in the Centre!"
