A Cancer Health and Wellbeing Day was held on Wednesday 25 February at Ashford Hospital with over 100 people attending, made up of patients, family members and carers.
The event was designed to empower patients to take control and participate in their recovery through educational talks, promoting positive lifestyle changes as well as knowledge of services available that can help. The main focus was to improve the quality of life for patients living with, and beyond, cancer to enable them to lead as healthy and active lives for as long as possible.
Lead Cancer Clinician/ Macmillan Nurse Cancer & Palliative Care, Sarah Burton, who organised the day's events with the Cancer Team said: "There was a real buzz to the day and it was wonderful to see so many patients and carers attending this event and being given the opportunity to meet others in the same situation. Small groups formed as people sat together listening as they shared their experiences and stories."
