AAA’s seldom cause any symptoms so you may feel fit and healthy.

However, a large aneurysm, although rare, is at risk of rupturing. When this happens, it is often fatal.

The screening programme was set up to offer men aged 65 and over the opportunity to have a quick, painless ultrasound scan to check for this condition.

Should we find a small or medium aneurysm, we will offer ongoing monitoring either annually or 3monthly. In the event a large aneurysm is detected, you will be referred to a Vascular Surgeon who will discuss treatment options with you. Most aneurysms can be successfully treated with surgery.
