Using Your Elbow Crutches: Full, Protected and Partial Weight Bearing

You are allowed to put full weight through your affected (operated/injured) leg i.e. you can put weight through your leg as normal. However it has been advised you use crutches for a period of time to help support your recovery. This time period will be determined by your physiotherapist or other healthcare professional.

 
 

Using Your Elbow Crutches: Non Weight Bearing

NO weight is allowed through your affected (operated/injured) leg. The affected leg should be kept off the ground when walking, standing and getting up from sitting.

 
 

Using Your Elbow Crutches: Touch Weight Bearing

Very minimal weight is allowed through your affected (operated/injured) leg. When standing on your non-affected leg, you can put the affected leg on the floor for balance ONLY.
