You will have seen in the news that a number of cases of a new variant of Covid-19, known as the SARS-CoV-2 variant which originated in South Africa, has been identified in a small number of localities across England.

One of these areas is in the borough of Woking. A similar surveillance exercise is expected to extend into an area in Egham in the coming days.

Public Health England have swiftly mobilised a response to contain the new variant and restrict further transmission in these areas. Part of this is the deployment of targeted testing, which means residents in the areas will be contacted and then visited at home with a PCR test to complete whether they have symptoms or not.

The area that has been identified in Woking for testing is marked out in red below.

If you live in the area rest assure you will be contacted in due course and Surrey County Council have put together a pack of information for residents, which includes a community helpline and helpful Q&A’s.

If you have further questions you can call the Surrey Community Helpline 0300 200 1008 Monday to Friday: 9am to 5pm, weekends 11am to 3pm. SMS: 0786 0053 465 for Deaf and hearing impaired residents only (Monday to Friday: 9am to 5pm).

As always the Trust is working closely with our national and local partners working on the response. Our priority remains to keep patients, Team ASPH and our community, as safe as possible during this time. Thank you again for your continued support.

Chief Executive's Message

On a regular basis, our Chief Executive sends a message to staff about events at the hospitals, special achievements, and plans for the future.

We shall be adding them to this section as well as including them on our Twitter and Facebook pages.

From time to time, we shall ask other members of the Trust Board and clinical team to give their perspective on the week in our hospitals.
