I’ve taken over the message this week to share a really special video with you all. Over the summer, I reflected on the transformational changes that were made at ASPH in response to the first wave of the COVID pandemic. You’ll be aware of some of these changes as we’ve shared a number of updates in previous messages, and you may have been involved in the execution of some of them. Wards and entire departments moved within a matter of days, new services and clinics were swiftly introduced, some members of staff were redeployed to other areas of the organisation to provide support where it was needed the most, and others were required to work remotely to reduce footfall within the hospitals.

Of course these are only a few of the changes that were implemented - there were so many more and everyone did their bit to help during this time. When you look back at the volume and pace of change, it really is outstanding and I felt it was important that we recognise and record this to look back on. I also felt that our achievements should be shared by the people who made all of the changes possible, Team ASPH.

The video I’m sharing with you today portrays some of the amazing things that you did to help us respond to COVID to keep our patients and each other safe. It really is incredible and I feel a huge sense of pride watching this back.

A huge thank you to everyone for your hard work, your team work, tenacity and dedication during this time - you made all of this happen, and I hope you enjoy the video (best viewed in Chrome, as opposed to Internet Explorer) which you can view here.

I also wanted to take the opportunity to encourage all staff to make good use of the Wellness Day, a day that has been given to all members of the team to say thank you for all your efforts over the previous months. Please do try to take some time and do something for yourself that you will enjoy on this day.

With best wishes for the week ahead,

Chief Executive's Message

On a regular basis, our Chief Executive sends a message to staff about events at the hospitals, special achievements, and plans for the future.

We shall be adding them to this section as well as including them on our Twitter and Facebook pages.

From time to time, we shall ask other members of the Trust Board and clinical team to give their perspective on the week in our hospitals.
