Services provided by the department
- CT (Computerised Tomography) - provides computer generated cross-section scans of body organs from X rays including specialist procedures of Cardiac CT and CT Colonography
- MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) - creates density images based on the nuclear magnetic resonance of protons
- Ultrasound - uses high frequency sound waves to construct an image of internal organs or fetal growth
- Angiography - the use of a dye that is opaque to X rays injected into coronary arteries so that blood circulation can be studied
- Colour Doppler - an ultrasound alternative to the use of X rays to measure blood flow
- Dacrocystography - the use of a contrast medium to identify blockages in the nasolacrimaldrainage system (tear ducts or sinuses)
- Sialography - X ray of salivary glands
- Venography - used to visualize the veins in the leg through a X ray and contrast dye
- Interventional Radiology including a 3 bed recovery
- Paediatric scanning
- Mammography
- Bone Density Unit (DEXA)
- Proctography
Walk-in X-Ray Service at Ashford and St Peter's
For x-ray, the walk-in service is Monday to Friday:
- 9am - 4pm at St Peter's
- 9am - 4:30pm at Ashford
For some examinations you may be asked to change into a patient gown and remove items of clothing which contain metal, buttons or dense stitching such as those on t-shirt logos. The Radiographer carrying out your examination will give you instructions if this is necessary for your specific exam.

The Radiology Dept at Ashford is located on the ground floor.

At St. Peter’s hospital, the Radiology Dept is on Level 3 of the outpatients / departmental block.

Ultrasound services are provided at both sites plus Woking Community hospital
The Maternity Ultrasound unit provided by Women’s and Children’s services, can be found in the Abbey Wing at St Peter’s Hospital.
