Visiting Information

An update on visiting at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals

Visiting is no longer restricted to two hours, and visiting is no longer required to be booked by telephone. Please ensure that you visit during the normal ward visiting times. Please note that no more than two people should visit a patient at any given time.

Mask wearing to be reintroduced in ALL areas of the hospitals

Following an increase in cases of COVID-19 in recent weeks, we have taken the decision to once again implement mask wearing in all areas of the hospitals from Friday 1st July, in order to reduce transmission of the virus.

Surgical face masks will be provided at designated entrances for our staff and all members of the public. These must be worn when moving around the hospitals, as well as when visiting loved ones or attending appointments.

We will continue to closely monitor the situation and will update you with any further changes to our IPC guidance, when it is safe to do so.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Andrea Lewis, Chief Nurse
David Fluck, Medical Director

Getting to the Trust

For visitors traveling from outside our local area, you may want to visit our getting here or view information about local accommodation.

What you can do for us

We would like to ask for your help in limiting visitors wherever possible to no more than two at a time, and to only bring children who are under 10 years old where really necessary.

Please:

  • use the hand gel when entering and leaving the ward
  • respect other patients and keep noise to a minimum
  • no more than two visitors at the bedside and only bring young children if you really need to
  • help us minimise infection – don’t visit if you are unwell, use the chairs and please don’t sit on a patient’s bed
  • do not use mobile telephones, cameras etc in patient areas
  • only bring in essential items for patients to keep areas clutter free
  • do not bring in flowers for patients (but fruit, chocolate and biscuits are fine)
  • do not use physical violence, verbal aggression or threatening behaviour towards staff as this will not be tolerated
  • your relative or friend may have agreed for you to ask questions about their condition or treatment – if you wish to speak to a member of staff please ask at the start of your visit so this can be arranged.
