Diabetic Foot Infection Team

The Diabetic Foot Infection Team at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is celebrating after winning the Influencing Change category of the Clinical Audit Heroes Awards.

The awards were part of Clinical Audit Awareness Week, which is a national campaign to promote and celebrate the benefits of clinical audit and quality improvement. The team was recognised for their project which aims to improve outcomes for diabetic foot infection patients treated with outpatient parenteral antibiotics.

Dr Gautam Das, Consultant Diabetologist at the Trust, said: “We are delighted to be recognised in the Clinical Audit Heroes awards. By taking an evidence-informed approach to improvement, projects like this help to target change where it will have the greatest impact.”

David Fluck, Medical Director, added: “This award is testament to the team’s efforts, and I’d like to thank them for their hard work on behalf of the Trust. This project has the real potential to improve the outcomes for our diabetic foot infection patients.”

Clinical Audit Awareness Week was hosted by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) in collaboration with the quality improvement network N-QI-CAN. You can find out more about Clinical Audit Awareness Week and the Clinical Audit Heroes awards on the HQIP website.
