Last month Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (ASPH) welcomed a team of dedicated volunteers from Samsung Electronics Ltd, who lent their expertise and green fingers to enhance our outdoor spaces at St Peter’s Hospital. A team of over 100 volunteers from Samsung came to spruce up some of our outdoor areas over a course of two weeks.
Julie Smith, Chief Executive at ASPH, said: “I would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the amazing team of volunteers who helped provide some TLC to the outdoor spaces at St Peter’s Hospital. Your efforts have made a real impact on our patients, visitors and colleagues who are able to visit these spaces. Your kindness and hard work have made a lasting impact, and we are truly grateful. A special thank you to Peter Lynn, one of the Trust volunteers who helped us every day for the two weeks that Samsung Electronics Ltd were with us and Lucy Romo, Volunteer Coordinator, Hazel Kaur, PA to VP at Samsung Electronics Ltd and Lizze Rye, CSR Graduate, for organising and looking after the volunteers over the two weeks.”
Jessie Soohyun Park, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, said “We were overwhelmed by the response from our colleagues to volunteer at St Peter’s Hospital, our local hospital and next door neighbour to our offices in Chertsey. What had originally been planned as a two-day volunteering opportunity became two weeks in the end to allow for all our volunteers to take part! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their time volunteering and found it a particularly rewarding experience being able to give something back to our local community.”
Working closely with teams from across ASPH, the team of volunteers helped to revitalise the gardens for Ash and Oak wards for paediatric patients and cultivate flower beds in the staff gardens and communal outdoor areas.
Staff, patients, and their families are now able to find comfort in the vibrant colours and well-kept garden areas throughout the Trust. The gardens and outdoor communal areas not only provide a serene backdrop for reflection and relaxation, but also serve as a respite from the clinical environment.
