Junior Doctors Industrial Action

Junior doctors will be taking industrial action from 06:59 on Tuesday 11 April until 06:59 on Saturday 15 April following the announcement by the BMA and HCSA.

The four-day walkout will start straight after the Easter bank holiday which brings its own challenges and the added pressure of covering for staff on scheduled annual leave. We anticipate that most of our junior doctors will be taking industrial action.

How will this impact our services?

To maintain a safe and effective service, we will be prioritising our inpatients and those in need of emergency or urgent medical care. Unfortunately, this means we will need to re-arrange some operations and procedures for outpatients and those with non-urgent care needs and we apologise in advance. We will be contacting those patients directly to provide an alternative appointment. Please continue to attend all appointments unless you are contacted and advised otherwise.

Urgent and emergency care

It is important that patients who need urgent medical care come to the hospital if they are experiencing a life-threatening or critical emergency. You can help us by contacting the right NHS organisation to help you depending on your care needs. If you feel unwell, please use NHS111 (111.nhs.uk) 24/7 or call 111 or seek help from the local Pharmacy for medication and day to day issues.
