Update 12th January 2023: Business Continuity Ended

Following the below updates, Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals have moved out of business continuity incident. This reflected a significant volume of work by colleagues resulting in an improved position, although services remain busy and work continues to address ongoing challenges.

The advice below continues to apply if people need to access health advice – you can help us by using the right service so we can make sure people who are critically ill are seen as quickly as possible.

We would like to thank everyone working in our hospitals, and colleagues across the health and care system for everything they continue to do as they care for, and support, patients and their families during what continues to be a very busy time.

Update 9th January 2023: Business Continuity Incident

On Saturday 7th January Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals moved from a critical incident into a business continuity incident. This reflected a slightly improved position, although services remain extremely busy and the advice continues to apply if you need to access health advice – you can help us by using the right service so we can make sure people who are critically ill are seen as quickly as possible.

As a Trust, we are now operating in a business continuity incident and continue to work together with partners to address the current challenges and improve our position. We would like to thank everyone working in our hospitals, and colleagues across the health and care system for everything they continue to do as they care for, and support, patients and their families during what continues to be a very busy time.

Original Article 3rd January 2023: Critical Incident Declared

Due to the significant ongoing pressure on our services, alongside the need to act swiftly to ensure patients continue to receive safe, high quality care, we have declared a critical incident at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Our Emergency Department is extremely busy and we are strongly urging people to only attend if it’s a life-threatening situation or a serious injury.

If you need medical help fast and you are not sure where to go, use NHS 111 online 24 hours a day, seven days a week to get assessed and directed to the right place for you.
