The Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) has moved to its new location on the ground floor of the Urgent and Emergency Care building and is fully functioning and accepting patients.
The UTC at St. Peter’s Hospital is a GP led service, which is open from 8am till midnight every day. The service is provided by NICS, a GP Federation bringing together practices across North West Surrey. The team consists of GPs and Emergency Practitioners. The UTC is able to treat minor illness and injury cases requiring urgent but not life-threatening care.
The UTC is not an alternative to GP Practices, which should usually be contacted first.
The UTC sees both walk in patients and appointments booked via 111. The service is equipped to diagnose and manage many of the most common conditions people attend A&E for including: cuts and lacerations, burns and scalds, strains and sprains, bites and stings, suspected fractures, foreign bodies, coughs and chest infections, ear, nose and throat infections, skin problems and rashes, stomach pains, urinary infections, minor head injuries, eye conditions/infections.
All ambulatory A&E patients (adults and children) will access UTC via Rowley Bristow Unit entrance between the hours of 8am – midnight and book into the UTC reception desk including patients who have been given an appointment by 111. Patients will then undergo a streaming assessment to ensure they are safely directed to the right service reflective of their clinical need.
After midnight, all patients (adults and children) will use the main A&E entrance until 8am.
Our Urgent & Emergency Care centre has been designed by our clinical teams, patients, and healthcare partners to provide an enhanced, fit for purpose department that ensures patients are treated in the right place, at the right time.
