SAMS staff members with guitar

On Thursday 28th June Dr Emma Wilkinson, SAMS Consultant, and her team on our SAMS wards held a tea dance where they had dancing, music and food. It was inspired by the #endpjparalysis campaign encouraging patients to get up, get dressed and get moving in hospital.

Then on Thursday 5th July (NHS 70th Birthday) held another delightful tea party for patients on the wards which was a great success with lots of tea, cakes, singing and guitar playing!

Dr Wilkinson said: "I am so proud to be working with the SAMS wards and the staff who have put a great deal of effort into a great patient experience which also improves cognitive and physical rehabilitation whilst in hospital. They have taken on the ethos of #endpjparalysis and "What matters to you" (A campaign which aims to encourage and support more meaningful conversations between staff and patients, focusing on the issues that matter most to people whilst in hospital) and celebrated this as well as NHS70 in a way that is beneficial to patients, relatives and staff. We hope to continue this idea of communal support and activity in ongoing improvement projects."

The team plan on running regular activities for their patients going forward, watch this space!
