Marcine Waterman

Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to welcome Marcine Waterman to the role of Non-Executive Director. Marcine brings over 30 years’ experience in public finance to the role, so she is skilled in helping public sector organisations achieve good governance and value for money.

Her early career experience was in American politics, working for the White House and Ernst and Young (USA). The was followed by over 20 years at the UK’s Audit Commission in a range of high profile roles, culminating in her appointment as Controller of Audit (Chief Executive). In this role she oversaw the successful closure of the organisation in March 2015, before being appointed as the first Chief Executive of the Single Source Regulations Office (the new economic regulator for defence procurement).

In addition to her new role, Marcine is also a member of the Central Government Faculty Board at the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).

She lives locally in Worplesdon and said: “I’m really pleased to join the Board and look forward to helping the Trust achieve its strategic objectives in whatever way I can. I applied for the role because of the care my family and I have received from the NHS over the years, particularly at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals.”

“Now that I’m not working full-time, it’s a fantastic opportunity to do something new, give back and support my local community. I’ve already completed my Trust induction and spent time walking around St Peter’s Hospital and meeting members of the team. Everyone has been so welcoming and friendly and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in.”

Chairman Andy Field added: “We are delighted that Marcine has joined us and we’d like to warmly welcome her to the Trust. She brings a wealth of experience and I’m sure will be a very valuable addition to our Board, particularly as we look forward to the next five years with the launch of our new strategic objectives. It’s an exciting period of development at Ashford and St Peter’s and I feel we’ve got the right people on our Board, both executive and non-executive directors, to lead the way in fulfilling our vision.”
