Research Nurse – Cardiology
Kirsty is a research nurse working in cardiology at St Peter’s and Ashford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She qualified as a nurse in 2012 and has always worked within the cardiac field. Kirsty started her career in King’s College Hospital on the cardiac preceptorship programme and gained experience with patients from all areas of cardiology.
In 2015, Kirsty became a cardiovascular research nurse at St Thomas’ Hospital, London. She was able to gain skill and knowledge in the field of research and developed a keen interest in patients with heart attacks. During this time Kirsty also undertook a masters module in planning and managing clinical trials. She has been named as a co-author on a research paper regarding cell salvage in patients undergoing bypass surgery. Kirsty’s aim is to work towards her masters in the future and is looking forward to working at St Peter’s hospital.
