Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust operates from two main hospital sites in North West Surrey, with our 4,800 colleagues providing services to a population of over 420, 000 living in the boroughs of Runnymede, Spelthorne, Woking and parts of Elmbridge, Hounslow, Surrey Heath and beyond.

We are seeking an exceptional individual with a proven track record willing to bring your experience and skills to work at Board level, in a large, complex organisation, as you will be expected to have had experience of leading within a governance structure. At this time we are looking to cement our position as an anchor institution in NW Surrey and actively seek to move many hospital services closer to the community we serve and partner with many other organisations to support the health and well-being of the population with the aim of minimising the need to attend our hospital sites and be able to stay at home for as long as possible. We are therefore looking for an individual who has a track record of delivering transformational place making, including workplace, demographic and estates based thinking and creation that promotes collaboration, health and well-being and is passionate about sharing, advising and assuring in this area.

We have a preference for local candidates who have a commitment to supporting the local health economy but welcome applicants from neighbouring counties or London who would provide a complementary perspective.

We particularly welcome applications from female, BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic) or disabled candidates to strengthen the diversity of our Board.

Your role will be to ensure that the Trust fulfils its statutory and legislative responsibilities, whilst always prioritising a commitment to excellent patient care both in the hospitals and in the local community. You will utilise your professional skills and perspective and add value to the governance and strategic development of the Trust, holding senior managers to account and offering collaborative challenge and advice. You will also be strongly committed to making a difference to the way care is delivered to patients.
