In this month's edition:

2026 ASPH Staff Achievement Awards
Colleagues from across Team ASPH came together at Oatlands Park Hotel for the annual Staff Achievement Awards, celebrating the individuals and teams who go above and beyond for patients, colleagues and the wider trust.
The evening recognised achievements in patient care, innovation, leadership, teamwork, volunteering and long service, with special recognition through the Chief Executive’s Award and six Lifetime Achievement Awards.
Staff reaching milestone years of service were also honoured, making it a memorable celebration of dedication and excellence across ASPH.

Organ Donation Week
As part of Organ Donation Week, the ASPH Organ Donation Committee hosted an information stand at St Peter’s Hospital to raise awareness of the life-changing impact of organ donation.
Staff and visitors had the opportunity to learn more about the donation process and the importance of sharing donation decisions with loved ones.
With demand for donor organs continuing to outweigh supply, the campaign highlighted the urgent need for more conversations and registrations, helping to give hope to those awaiting a transplant. Read more about organ donation here.

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
September marked Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, shining a spotlight on the experiences of children and families affected by cancer.
At St Peter’s Hospital, the Little Oaks team provides specialist treatment and supportive care for children and young people with a cancer diagnosis.
In 2027, the paediatric services at The Royal Marsden Hospital (Sutton) will move to Evelina London Children’s Hospital. In line with this change, our service will be enhanced, enabling us to deliver more care closer to home and improve the quality of life for children undergoing cancer treatment.

Occupational Health Team Receives National Award
Congratulations to the Occupational Health team, who have received a Special Recognition Award through the NHS Health at Work Recognition Awards.
The award celebrates an innovative digital project that transformed the onboarding process for doctors in training by creating a single streamlined pathway between Occupational Health, Medical Workforce and the Education Centre.
Well done to everyone involved!

National Recognition for St Peter’s NICU
St Peter’s Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has achieved Platinum Bliss Baby Charter accreditation, the highest award available from neonatal charity Bliss.
The accreditation recognises the unit’s exceptional family-integrated care, including support for feeding, bereavement, psychological wellbeing and family involvement throughout a baby’s care. St Peter’s is currently the only Level 3 neonatal unit in England to hold this prestigious accreditation, highlighting its commitment to delivering outstanding support for babies and their families. ASPH Project Supporting Bereaved Families
The Beyond Goodbye project, developed by ASPH colleagues, has been shortlisted for a Nursing Times Award 2026.
The initiative provides bereaved families with a thoughtful keepsake package following a death in the Emergency Department, offering comfort and a lasting way to remember loved ones.
Including items such as forget-me-not seeds, handmade crochet gifts and condolence messages, the project reflects the compassion and care shown by staff during some of the most difficult moments families face. Read more about the project.

A Generous Donation from Clarion Housing
ASPH has gratefully received a substantial furniture donation from Clarion Housing, helping to enhance environments across the trust in a sustainable and cost-effective way.
Items have been distributed to a number of departments, including the new Macmillan Cancer Support Centre at Ashford Hospital, which is due to open soon.
The donation supports ongoing efforts to improve patient and staff spaces while promoting environmentally responsible use of resources. Read more about the donation.
