Given the developments that unfolded this week in regards to Brexit, I thought this was an opportune time to acknowledge again the great contribution of our colleagues from the EU. You are all highly valued and appreciated as part of Team ASPH.

I would also like to add a huge thank you to all of you who have been putting time and effort into contributing towards ‘no deal' contingency planning. This has involved reviewing business continuity plans, looking at different supply options, and daily and weekly reporting of risks and issues to the regional team.

For my message this week I want to talk about one of the ways we try to attract and support colleagues to continue to work at the Trust, the provision of good quality affordable accommodation on site and locally. We all know how expensive it is to live in the South East, particularly when it comes to buying and renting houses, and if we want to recruit and retain great colleagues, we need to do what we can to help provide a positive living environment.

Most of you will be aware that we are completing the sale of surplus land to the west of the site at St Peter’s and I am hoping we are very close to announcing further news on this next week! As part of this we will be selling a piece of land to Optivo, the provider of onsite accommodation at St Peter’s, who will be redeveloping and upgrading the available housing. The first stage of this programme will affect residents living in the Parklands area, as the current block will be demolished and replaced with new, expanded and improved accommodation and in 2021 Silverlands is also due to be rebuilt.
